Hey, be nice to yourself today. It’s mid-February. The middle of the dead of winter. That might mean a lot of things to different people. It’s Black History Month, and maybe the occasion to re-watch a certain Bill Murray movie for the 75th time (which might be considered ironic) that has even been turned into a kind of delightful Jeep commercial and we’re halfway through Hashtag Dinosaur Month. Those are all good things about February. But it can be kind of a cruel month. Author Alice McDermott called it “A suitable month for despair.” (But please don’t!) Maybe you feel the sting of Cupid’s arrow missing its mark or the sting of hail. But there’s a lamb in sight down the road and some showers on the horizon. You could say it’s the heart of winter. Suppose there’s a chance you like February. Go ahead and email coolerranch@superniceclub.com and tell us why.
First some super nice stuff
True Love Will Find You in the End
>> Maybe you are in a little bit of a post-Valentine malaise. Feeling down on love or maybe not. Maybe you just like to look at amazing pictures of happy people. Either way, this photo album of Dolly Parton and Carl Thomas Dean through the years is sure to put a smile on your face.
Do Not Touch That Dial
>> There is a whole ass Twitter account dedicated to displaying the best of 1980s’ newscast screengrabs and we are there for it. If Joel Siegel doesn’t get you ready for weekend fun we don’t know what else we can do to help. TGIF.
Rock Your Body
>> Ariana and the Rose, this week’s Nice Work! podcast guest wants you to rock your body in every sense of the world. The TikTok-famous dancing queen and indie songstress recently performed on Samantha Bee’s national television show, but still got stood up on a date the night before. We talk about this, body issues, and dancing. With yourself or others.
This is one time where television really fails to capture the true excitement of a large squirrel predicting the weather.”
